The Challenge

Just Kidding is a free magazine for 8 to 11 year olds; its aim is to be fun but also educational. It is distributed through retail outlets such as Toys”R”Us.

We were commissioned to do the page design for a series of educational pages over a period of 18 months. Each page would address a different subject and each needed to take a unique approach, while at the same time staying consistent with the overall style of the magazine and with each other. As with most magazine work, the challenge was given extra spice by short timeframes and tight deadlines.

The Solution

We used a combination of original illustrations and stock images, along with a lot of imagination, to produce this range of designs. The end result was a series which clearly met the brief of being ‘both different and the same’.
