The ChallengeSmall Town is a music and events promoter with an emphasis on country music. We were asked to create a corporate identity for the company. The brief we were given was fairly open except for one thing: the logo had to include a horseshoe image in some way.The challenge was to incorporate the horseshoe image without resorting to stereotypes, which would have given potential clients a narrow view of what this company does. The SolutionWe developed a stylised horseshoe image which has a modern feel without becoming cartoonish. We then used enlarged portions of the horseshoe in the background to turn the horseshoe into a road – in keeping with the touring nature of the musicians and events which Small Town promote.In choosing a font, we looked for something modern but with a traditional twist, avoiding ‘wild west’ stereotypes while remaining connected to the country music theme. |
